OMS Hornet

Maintained regardless of cost, specification includes:

  • Spaceframe chassis converted to semi-monocoque with bonded and riveted panelling
  • Yamaha R6 engine, with head and cams by Race Techniques. Baffled sump, MBE management mapped by Steve Broughton.
  • Paddle gearshift with MBE flat shifter
  • Willwood callipers with lightweight discsPenske damper
  • 2 sets of wings: low drag OMS / BAR combination, and high downforce OMS pre-preg combination (new in 2010).
  • 2 sets of OMS 3 piece rims: one with good Avon slicks, one (new in 2010) with Avon wets

Ready to go, has development potential for conversion to 1100 or 1600. On event assistance a possibility. Custom built covered trailer by negotiation. Will include a good spares package (driveshafts, chainwheels, chain, sprockets, complete R6 engine etc etc)

This Hornet is a very competitive car at national level. Finishing 2nd overall in the Leaders Hillclimb Championhip during the 2007 season and the first 600 under the 30 second barrier at Shelsley Walsh. In 2010 it gained 6 class wins from 8 starts at national meetings, beaten by the weather on the two occasions it did not win. This car holds the 600cc class record at Harewood.
